John blogs and makes it official
17 Dec 2009 | Steffy
I'll post here the whole entry. Feel free to share your thoughts. I am happy that John stays true to himself and does what his heart tells him to do. A true artist at heart...he always has been and always will be just that! One of the greatest musicians.

When I quit the band, over a year ago, we were on an indefinite hiatus. There was no drama or anger involved, and the other guys were very understanding. They are supportive of my doing whatever makes me happy and that goes both ways.

To put it simply, my musical interests have led me in a different direction. Upon rejoining, and throughout my time in the band, I was very excited about exploring the musical possibilities inherent in a rock band, and doing so with those people in particular. A couple of years ago, I began to feel that same excitement again, but this time it was about making a different kind of music, alone, and being my own engineer.

I really love the band and what we did. I understand and value that my work with them means a lot to many people, but I have to follow my interests. For me, art has never been something done out of a sense of duty. It is something I do because it is really fun, exciting, and interesting. Over the last 12 years, I have changed, as a person and artist, to such a degree that to do further work along the lines I did with the band would be to go against my own nature. There was no choice involved in this decision. I simply have to be what I am, and have to do what I must do.

Sending love and gratitude to you all.

:-)

John left the RHCP?
13 Dec 2009 | Steffy
There are currently a lot of rumors regarding the Red Hot Chili Peppers and whether John left the band or not. I didn't wanted to address these because well, they were just rumors. But as the days go by, more and more articles come out stating just that. John apparently quit the band and Josh Klinghoffer will play with the Chilis from now on.

I'm still waiting for an official statement at this point but since musicradar.com is reporting this, I posted it here now as well.

Go read here what they have to say.

Feel free to share your thoughts!
I will state my opinion once it's official.

Sorry to be so late on this but I didn't see it and wasn't sure about the other source. But here is the confirmation that the RHCP will indeed perform at the MusiCares event honoring Neil Young:

Red Hot Chili Peppers are making their first post hiatus appearance at the January 29,2010 Music Cares event honoring Neil Young. The band will be performing live with other artists at the annual Person of the Year 20th anniversary gala.
